We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate qualified Dental Nurse to join our supportive team on a part-time basis. The Role
The successful candidate will support dentists during procedures, ensure patient comfort, and maintain high standards of hygiene, organisation, and efficiency within the clinic. This is a varied role combining chairside dental nursing with reception support.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort
- Prepare treatment rooms with the required instruments and materials prior to appointments
- Provide patients with clear pre- and post-treatment instructions
- Support and reassure patients throughout their visit with clear communication in English
- Take dental impressions
- Use an intra-oral scanner
- Maintain strict infection control protocols, including sterilisation of instruments and adherence to hygiene standards
- Accurately record patient information using IT systems, including treatment notes and medical histories
- Support reception duties, including booking and managing appointments and answering patient enquiries
- Organise appointment schedules efficiently to optimise clinic operations
- Manage stock levels of dental supplies and notify relevant personnel when replenishment is required
- Ensure compliance with CQC standards and practice protocols
Requirements
- Qualified Dental Nurse with valid GDC registration
- Proven experience in patient care, preferably within a dental or healthcare setting
- Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to explain procedures clearly
- Basic IT skills for record keeping and appointment management
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy environment
- Ability to work as part of a team with professionalism, integrity, and compassion
Desirable (but not essential)
- Dental radiography qualification
- Experience with digital dentistry and intra-oral scanners
