Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Dental Hygienist to join our orthodontic service. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing preventative oral care, assisting with patient education, and supporting the overall orthodontic team in delivering high-quality hygiene services for our patients, who are primarily young children that will be commencing their orthodontic treatment. Duties
- Conduct thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing teeth to remove plaque and tartar build-up.
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices, dietary advice, and post-treatment care
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilise instruments in accordance with infection control protocols
- Maintain accurate patient records, documenting treatments performed and observations made during appointments
- Collaborate with orthodontist and other dental professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Monitor patients’ oral health status during routine visits and identify early signs of dental issues
Skills
- Sound understanding of human anatomy, particularly oral and maxillofacial structures, to accurately assess patient conditions
- Excellent organisational skills to manage appointment schedules efficiently, punctuality and ability to commute to the Practice are essential
- Compassionate communication skills for educating patients effectively
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety standards
